[verizon] Is it possible to disable the 'wifi is avaialble' notification ?

Per subject I've been reading that the verizon version has a 'wifi is available' notification that is very annoying. This would also suggest that wifi is always on (since it detects active wifi). Is this actually the case (or user error) and if so can it be disabled ? Can you truely turn wifi off? [I live in the city and frequently there are wifi connections avaialble just about everywhere but I do not have access; and I dread the idea that everytime I use my phone it will bug me about wifi]

On my Verizon S3 there is a separate WiFi Settings (not sure why there isn't an icon in the top drop-down like there is for BT, GPS, etc). From the WiFi setting you can turn WiFi off. You can also select to have the notification on or off.
Hope that helps.

go to settings---> wifi ---> tap on Advances at bottom right corner, you will see network notification on top. is that you are looking on.

Ok. I presume you two have the verizon version and others were mistaken that this notification could not be disabled. I do not have an actual phone to test but will stop by verizon on the 12th to play with the display model.

[fyi currently have a razr which does not have ample enough battery life so looking for an upgrade; also considering eating etf and switching carriers]
