Help Verizon Kit kat now available but not OTA

Although it was a 2.2gb download it did download pretty quick for me all in all I DLed and installed in less than 20 mins

I've always been a fan of hardwired updates vs OTA so sounds good to me. Except I'm not updating anyway on this occasion due to being rooted. :)

Took me a minute to find GPS since there is no longer a toggle for it. It is all part of location now. You can tell apps to use GPS only wifi,GPS,and network location, or just network location (Battery Saver mode)

ioroot25 has you covered actually... they figured out root last week when the OTA leaked and it is confirmed working on this as well.

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROOT] Root your G2 [ATT|VZW|TMO|KT|RGS|BELL|TELUS|OPEN] [Yay!]

Recovery... now that's a little different... if you used the OTA sideload method you can have it, if you use the "official" method, not possible as of yet.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought you meant you weren't going to upgrade do to lack of root...

Are you guys experiencing any issues after downloading the so long waited KK?

To me it looks like my battery life is not as good but maybe thats because I have not found all the settings to tweak as I had it before? Otherwise it performs quite well.

Have you found any bugs?

Several computers and the upgrade assistant won't run properly. I guess I need to be patient and wait for the OTA. And for what benefit exactly, I do not know...

Did they claw it back? I have gone to Verizon and it tells me I have the latest version, but I still have 4.2.2,

Just plug your phone into your windows computer and run swupgradeassistant. For some reason my windows 7 machine kept saying connect PC to internet to run. My older desktop ran fine though.

When I run the SWUpgradeAssistant thing it goes to install, but then gets stuck at "Installing..." on my computer. I've upgraded the drivers and still getting the same thing. Any thoughts?

This is not working for me. I am running windows 8.1 and when I plug in my G2, I see a phone icon (VS980 4G)? When I open it I see an internal storage. When I open that, I see a list of folders and no swupgradeassistant app?

make sure phone is unplugged from computer, then go into settings scroll down to system > pc Connection and make sure it is set for Media sync (MTP) then plug phone in it should open it automatically

So far the only Thing i've seen was I use Comodo internet security for antivirus/blocking calls. When Calls get blocked it mutes my Phone volumes. I have to go back in and turn them back up after every blocked call.

downloaded last night, phone has been off charger since 830 am and the battery has barely moved...wow also downloaded the new google camera and its pretty rad

I agree I do like the new google camera app. I wish they would release the Kit kat Dialer and I would be happy.
