Between lean kernel and Franco kernel which do you guys prefer for better batter life? I've always used lean kernel and it was always good to me. I'm currently running AOKP Milestone 3

not only that but depending which one you pick, what governor do you select in SetCPU?
or dont set any governor and you'll be ok?

You'll just have to try it for yourself and decide. That said, I've yet to encounter a kernel with better battery life then franco 13.1 dated Jan 20th 2012. Newer is not always better. Also, I've yet to run lean 1.10.0 so who knows :D

and do they BOTH offer cpu off while sleeping? is that done by actually selecting a specific option?

Hotplugging the CPU? Yes they both offer it through various methods. All the info for franco and lean kernel is right here in this forum under their respective threads. Feel free to ask questions if your still unsure after reading all there is to read :)

Well I'm running the Leaner 1.10.0 stable as is, on M3 so I'll let you know.
I got less than 1% per hour loss over night across 9 hours with WiFi, several emails syncing, and my LTE is always toggled on.... But I live in a 3G area so it don't matter.

That was almost right after installing it last night so its supposed to get better.

Right now installed a 100% 2100mAh battery and set my screen to time out in 10 minutes just to get more screen time logged to see what happens.

So far @ 80% with 4hr on battery and 1hr 47mn on screen.

If i made a change in setcpu, anyway to set the SETcpu settings to default?

What change would that be?

You can uncheck any "set on boot" options you have checked and then go to settings> apps> find setCPU and "clear data" then reboot your phone. That will clear it

Personally I've had better experience with Lean Kernel. Flashed 2 different versions of Franco and one was absolutely horrid, the other was comparable to Lean, but not quite up to the same standard. I'm on Lean 1.9 right now waiting to hear how 1.10 is before I update. I run interactiveX governor, this shuts off one CPU core when the screen is off. Very smooth kernel if you ask me.

Give Franco 16.0 a shot if you're not satisfied with Leankernel.

My settings:
AOKP toro M3
Franco 16.0
700mhz/1000mhz
francoTurtle governor
Hotplug enabled (make sure dynamic hotplug is disabled)
Flashed Faux's Reset Kernel first THEN Franco 16.0 (this is important)

Results:

The big thing here is the "screen on" time. No other ROM/kernel combo has allowed me such heavy usage and large amounts of "screen on" time while still maintaining excellent battery life.

Is there a link to Faux's Reset Kernel? I can't find it. And for enabling hotplug i have to do it through root-explorer correct?

Thats amazing. By far the best battery life I've seen. Gonna have to hop over from lean and give it a shot.

I wonder if a lot of it has to do with the theme running which has a lot of black? Might be worth considering for some folks. :)

Here is my run on M3, Lean kernel 1.10.0 Stable, no settings changed, a 2100mAh starting @ 100%, Screen time out set to 10 minutes so it could ring up some screen time.
WiFi always on until this post, LTE always on but no 4G, not a lot of use, a few games of pool, a little mapping, a few calls etc.

Sonny's theme mainly just changes all ICS blue to white. Inverted gapps but I don't use any except gmail :D

Screen-on time is no doubt high! How much use did the phone get while screen was on 10 minute timeouts? Or did you use it for a moment then let it sit to timeout? This will make a big difference in your times depending on what you did.

My phone experienced SOD and browser crashed quite a few times with Franco 16.2. 13.1 was the best, I might go back to that one later. I'm running lean 1.10.0 with M3 now, results are excellent so far.

I did about 60% of the take a look or reply to a text or meal and let it sit thing.

Going to do the same thing today with Franko-13.1 1/20/2012. :)

Went past 25% before I grabbed it. Same kind of run as the Lean Kernel but longer..... Oh well. I plugged it in a few times for less than a minute to get files to flash and such.

dunno if the comparison will do you any good but it is what it is, from my house anyway.

This is M3 on Franko 13.1

Nice gapi thx for this! Pretty consistent comparo other than the 3g use while on franco. What's your take on the 2, is it a wash?

A wash? I guess so. I am going to return to Lean Kernel because that is home base for me.

I'm going to sit back and observe the 4.0.4 stuff develop and and enjoy the stability of M3.
Maybe M4 will be 4.0.4 or 4.0.5?

Also, the Lean 1.10.0 did a 9hr 40mn sleep and only losing 5% from 75% to 70% on the extended battery last nigh on in InteractiveX350/1200.
