Root [Verizon] Lock Screen Text Message

Whenever I got a text message, my lock screen would pop up a little mail sign in a circle and you can drag that, and the text would open.
However, after I decided I wanted a password on my phone, it doesn't do that anymore. That's reasonable.
But, now I just have the swipe option like when I first go the phone, and it doesn't pop up the text anymore? Is there a way to fix this?
(I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 by the way)
 
Go to menu/settings/lockscreen/lockscreen options/shortcuts.
Turn on the shortcuts, then go into the shortcuts option and choose the messaging app icon. :)

Does that make sense?

Edit: by the way, are you rooted at all aharaea?
