verizon massive tethering

Hey guys, so i use my RAZR HD as a internet source for torenting and gaming, well ive been downloading alot of stuff via USB Tether without the 20$ monthly payments. It might only be 4 days into the month but ive used over 70gigs of data....
Will verizon figure it out? will they charge me a huge fine? suspend my line? or am i just being stupidly worried.

I would use my internet at my house but the DL is only 1-2mbps and i get like 20-30 with my phone so i use that instead.

Regardless i could care less about a fine because it only comes out of my worthless dads pocket and he wont take me off the contract so no worries there. Im just worried they will take away my unlimited data!!

70GB in 4 days? I can't imagine they won't punish you by throttling your speed, if that's legal (even then, who says they won't?)

I've read elsewhere that the carriers can tell who is and is not tethering based off of data being passed through the network (browser being used, etc.). I imagine it's only a matter of time before your phone and/or your dad's account are flagged.

Here I was being worried for using nealy 4GB since my cycle reset 2 weeks ago..

Edit: Not judging you, just making an observation. I think that's a little excessive, but that's just me.

it wont be your worthless dad in trouble when they look at your account and see what youre downloading...... my guess is jailtime or at least the kind of fines that can put you in the poorhouse for life

if you were in the 10G range they would never scrutinize....... but at 70Gb in 4 days theyre gonna look at what in the hell youre d/l to take up that much data

exactly the type of behavior and attitude that ruins it for the rest

I'm assuming this is a joke... right? Jailtime for tethering and torrenting? People pirate stuff at MUCH MUCH higher rates than this all the time and there are only a few cases where people have received legal action taken against them, and none that I'm aware of where they've incurred jailtime

OP, don't even listen to them. There's a decent chance your account will get flagged. I could see them possibly terminating the line of service, but that would be worst case scenario. Most likely they will give you a warning.

They can indeed see that it is tethering simply by looking at the actual packet transfers. If you don't have the unlimited tethering add-on to your line, then you are in violation of your terms of service. The penalty could be a warning, removal of your unlimited data and placed on tiered data where you would incur overages, or termination of your service with you having to possibly pay the termination fee. If you are indeed pirating and not using legal torrents, then they do have the right to turn you in. They probably won't and the likely action would be just simply removing your unlimited data and placing you on a limited plan. I advice you add the $30 unlimited tethering to prevent this from happening.

your dad may not take you off the account but with that kind of activity I'm sure there is a breach of the TOS and Verizon could cancel all the lines associated with that account.
