Help Verizon Message+ LED not working

Hi I just updated to Nougat today. LED notifications for Gmail and other apps seem to be working. However it won't flash when I receive a text message. I checked the notifications settings, they are enabled for Message Plus but not for Samsung's default Messages app. I did try enabling both but that didn't work either. I also cleared the partition cache and that did not work. I am not in do not disturb or power save mode. Lastly, I uninstalled all updates to Message+ and reupdated it but that didn't help either.

Thanks for your help!

you uninstalled updates, but did you reset the app itself? settings> applications> application manager> message+> storage> clear data. as long as you have samsung message enabled, you won't lose messages.

off course, you can also try safe mode. worst case, factory reset.

I just did a factory reset and it's still not working. It must be a setting but I can't figure out what could be doing this. For what it's worth the phone is vibrating when I get a text, it's just the LED that is not blinking as it should.

when you did the reset, did you disable auto restore and skip the gmail signin/restore option? if no, it likely reloaded the problem...

I didn't, but why would Gmail cause a problem with Message+? I was getting all other LED notifications - Facebook messenger, Gmail etc.

When you don't disable auto restore and don't skip the Google signin, Google restores any backed up info from their servers. Doing this may have been restored some other unrelated data that happened to affect msg+. Anytime you do a factory rest, best bet is to do clean starts and fresh installs of everything.

I see, thanks. So would that mean manually reinstalling every app one-by-one? That sounds pretty laborious!

yep. also allows you to test the notification as you're installing to find out if one of them causes the problem.
