verizon new contract

okay so currently me, my mom, dad and sister are all on the same plan, and due to my father choosing a 19 year old slut over his family we need to separate our plans because my mom doesn't want to pay for the minutes he talks to his gf.

I would like to know what our options are, we want to just end the contract and start a new one. If we do this will it give all of us a new phone (sister wants ip5 and mom wants note II)? if so can i save mine, i am pretty happy with my s3 and i wanna wait till the NBT?

also will we be able to keep our current numbers? as we have many contacts we all like to know who we are.

Thanks for the help! :)

It depends on who the account holder is.

If your dad, then you all just hand him your phones and go get a new contract in you mom's name. You'll get new phones and numbers (unless he is willing to authorize number porting)... and he's stuck with the early termination fees (if any) for your old phones.

If your mom is the account holder, she can just discontinue his phone and pay the early termination fee (if any). He'll have to go get a new phone and number in his own name.

Hey cman1414, just a heads up, I went ahead and moved this to the Verizon forum for you.

I think DarkJedi has some pretty good advice, its pretty much what I would say.

thanks, my number is the account holder, but my dad changed all the passwords and locked us out of the acct, so what should we do? can i calll verizon and have the passwords changed since the account is on my phone?

Ouch.

If your mother is the plan-holder than she can either terminate the phone and pay any termination fees or possibly put the phone in "vacation" mode, which may be cheaper than termination fees. The former releases the phone number and your father might be able port it; the latter will retain the number. There may be other options, so discussing them w/VZW would be best.

Either way, I'd ensure he's no longer an authorised user on the account!

This is, of course, assuming your parents are divorc(ing)(ed) and isn't just adding fuel to the fire.

Edit:
Oh, you're the account-holder (I was posting the same time you were). Since your passwords, etc. were changed and access removed, I would call VZW and report the account stolen and have them reset everything and remove him from the account if he's on it; then decide on the aforementioned options.

Agreed. Explain that you're account was compromised, and you need everything reset/changed. Don't tell Verizon anymore specifics beyond that, just that you're password was compromised.

Oh, and what your he did with your account is probably quite illegal, and you'll definitely want to let your mothers lawyer know about this when you get to that stage.

sure will! great idea, i think i will get this done asap, and i will let her know to tell both of her lawyers about this, i didn't know this was illegal! glad to know so.

so should we drop his line then or let him just pay the cancellation fees and keep his plan. the only incentive to get a new plan is that my sister broke her x2 and is now on a old voyager, and my mom wants the note 2 as said earlier. it might also be cheaper for us to do a shared data plan of 6 gigs (ill use 4 and the use abt 1).

thanks for the help, support and devious thoughts

Probably need to ask Verizon about the best way to go in that regard to be honest.

well i will look into it then, because i know our monthly price is 250ish for all 4 of us including 2 unlimited data plans and 2 2gigs, idk how many minutes, and unlimited texting. so i think for what is about 200 for 6gigs ill go with

Usually with more than 2 people share everything is probably the best way to go, just because you have unlimited minutes & texts. Data of course adds some to it, but it should end up being cheaper than 3 separate plans.

Hope this helps, and hopefully everything goes well with your family.

EDIT: Even with just 2 people, share everything is better...

Definitely consolidate.

Also remember that everything is negotiable: you want to consolidate plans and have new devices and they want to keep you as a customer via long-term contracts. It doesn't hurt to mention your comparison shopping (seriously intending whether to switch or not is irrelevant).
