Root [Verizon] New G2, Custom rom and boot loader question

I got a G2 yesterday, rooted it using ioroot25, and installed TWRP using Autorec. I would like to run CarbonRom, but when I tried to flash it yesterday I soft bricked. I have now restored, rerooted and installed TWRP. Is there a way to verify if my bootloader is unlocked? I cannot get my phone to enter fastboot so I can check. I have rooted other phones before and flashed custom roms, but have ebbn having trouble with the G2

We don't have a visible bootloader and it is locked. We do have fastboot technically but it either takes some smoke and mirrors to access, or if you bork your phone badly enough, it will sometimes present itself once no other options exist.

I tried this before with autorec and what it does is it downgrades the software. So what you will need to do is flash a patch for the verizon version there are other patches for that. you would flash carbon, gapps, and then the patch after.
Go here this will help you out some. I did and it worked once for me till i finally just went back to stock with xposed.

Another thing you can do it downgrade back to jellybean. I have done that quite a few times and then install carbon that way also.

Here is the link for that. I have done that quite a few times and it works wonders.

if you downgrade and go to 12a instead of 24a you can have carbon

Carbon has 24A builds up, they're in beta but the ones I've tried are pretty good. Slim has 24A builds, Vanir, Liquid, and Mahdi. ROMs that need the 12B modems to run are still based on the hacked up JB kernel source. Definitely not optimum

Lol. I'm all Titaniumed up and ready to 24a but I don't see any reason to yet. It takes me six weeks to track down all my settings so I don't update without a serious reason.

If you are coming from 11a or 12b you will need to have the kitkat kernal on first. If you used flashify to put custom recovery on. You need to follow this step.

Once done with that step you need to put a rom on that has updated to 24a. I have been on the carbon 24a rom for a few days and it works wonderful.
