Hello all:

I am hopefully receiving my sg11 this week, 32gb. if this were an iphone, I would know exactly what to do and how to fix it.

Rooting seems to be alot more harder. I would like to know, if there is a truly simple method to rooting a new sg11 phone as I have read that the bootloader is locked. I am not sure what ics version will be on my phone. Does GS3DebugFSRoot Work?

Is there also a way to fix problems if you run into them while trying to root?

I am sorry if I have asked questions previously answered on this board, I just registered. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, and I one day hope to be of assistance to others on this forum.

PS, I have also gone to the verizon store, and they told me that anyone with a unlimited plan will lose their unlimited status once they upgrade their phone, to avoid losing unlimited, you must buy the phone at full face value.
 
xda-developers forum has all the info on what you are asking but it isn't quite consolidated. This is a new phone, so not everything is polished.

What I did:
- Installed Kies, ODIN (Windows)
- Flashed root66
- Installed EZ Recovery from play store; installed TWRP2.2 with it; rebooted into recovery
- Wiped everything (FDR, formatted /system /cache /sdcard)
- Flashed Deodexed stock ROM (another xda thread)
- Flashed custom boot animation, updated modem firmware (it had reverted from G1 to F2 for some reason) ** I think one of these two tripped the "custom" unlocked icon on the power-on screen; I don't know why--still researching
- Flashed updated kernel (again, reverted to F2 from G1; I don't know why)
- Reinstalled/configured all my apps; it works fine (except the trip-wire, which the consensus says will go away upon flashing a stock ROM with ODIN)

When I understand everything and can create a clean process, I'll post step-by-step instructions.
