Root [Verizon] No file in Recovery

So I just rooted, and planned on flashing CM10, so I downloaded it, and placed it in the root of the SD card. When I went into recovery mode to search for the .zip, itb showed all the other files on the card, but not the .zip i needed. What gives? I've tried rebooting/redownloading, etc. nothing.

That app doesn't have elevated permissions to view root fs. Use X-plorer or ES File Explorer app or equivalent.

I'll try that, but why? I can see the files on my phone, but when in recovery they're not there. What would cause that?

EDIT: So using ES file explorer I checked, and dont see the files anymore... why not? I havent done much work in recovery since I rooted my OG Evo. Has something major changed with CWM since then?

Oops, I misunderstood, failed to RFC.

They don't start with a dot, do they? (i.e. "/.DotMakesMeHidden.zip")

IIRC CWM has a "show hidden files" option; try that. (I use TWRP2.2)

USing the My Files app, I see them, but not with the ES explorer
