Root [Verizon] No Sim Verizon roted Note 2

Hello all,...noob Here,,,Eager for some guidance, please
Bought rooted Note 2, had Jellybeams 13 on it, and told by seller Vz was working on it fine.
I bought a Sim From Vz, but phone says No sim so they weren't able2 activate phone.
I did a factory reset at their request, whatever that means, and nothing changed.
I loaded Jellybeans 17 and still same issue
Verizon wants me to put Stock ROM back on it, and maybe phone will read Sim.
I am willing to try this, but feel over my head already.
Incidentally I bought from Amazon.com a new Sim card reader, but am told by multiple ppl that problem is much more likely software related, and changing reader is a fairly daunting "project"

Shud I put stock JB rom back on it? VZ doesn't have the ROM, its not in the phone anymore, and Samsung doesnt offer the download.

Or (pray) does anyone know a patch or kernel??? that I may need to get this phone to read a Sim?

Never went to stock,,something told me the Sim should Read, even if I get no signal.. Verizon ALMOST convinced me there was nothing wrong with their "brand new, you saw me open it" Sim card.....but I put a t-mobile sim in and it worked.... So I Cut my Sim from my Droid Charge to a micro Sim,,, put it in,,,and I'm in business. (faulty "new" Sim from Vz it seemed) Maybe this is just too basic a problem,, but I hope it helps someone. Thank you all for your guidance..I read alot of posts here, and that helped greatly.
