Root [Verizon] Odin tripped Knox?

Mayhem

Android Expert
So I updated to the "latest" build of KK and lost root. Previously Knox was at 0x0 after using Towelroot. Well that small update broke Towelroot so I had to use Odin. I re-rooted and thought nothing of it.

I downloaded Phone Info (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en_GB) from Play and it shows Knox 0x1. I thought Odin didn't trip Knox but apparently it does.

So since I'm now void on the warranty, anyone got any suggestions on stable ROMs? There's not a stable build of CyanogenMod for klte yet so that's out..

Depending on how you rooted your model of Galaxy S5, using Odin to flash a cf-root kernel will not normally trip the Knox Security counter. However, installing a custom recovery via Odin definitely will trip it. Once tripped, I'm afraid, there is no possibility of resetting it. This will only affect you if you use your phone as a BOOK for work purposes where Knox Security is a requirement and is separate from the standard Samsung flash counter. See...

Yeah, no custom recovery installed. I just rooted it to be able to run Xposed modules. I'm still running the stock ROM.

I just rooted using Odin and ran the APK for Xposed.

What carrier are you with, this needs to be moved to the proper root section, please advise so we can move ;)

My bad Mayhem!

Just checked with chainfire and the CF-root, flashed via Odin will trip the new Knox 2.0 in S5 firmwares.

FWIW, I rooted using the flash the older kernel method, using towelroot and then flashing back to 4.4.4. I just checked Phone Info and my Knox bit is 0x0.
