Root [Verizon] Please help unbrick my phone

turbon50

Newbie
I originally rooted my phone and thought that a factory reset would erase everything I did and the clockworkmod app. Apparently, it didn't because when the Verizon update came in, it wouldn't update. So I held the power, home, and volume up button in hopes of clearing everything. That was dumb because I think I erased my os. Now it doesn't get past the Samsung logo screen. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks

You need to use ODIN and flash a new firmware on it. Go to Sammobile.com and download the right firmware for your phone carrier and download ODIN. Once you have that, let me know and I will guide you through the process.

No reason to panic, ODIN s extremeley easy to use. This is my first Samsung phone since D600E almost 10 years ago and it took me all 5 minutes to work out how to use ODIN.

I dont doubt it is but i will wait until the official release, to be honest the only thing i am looking forward to is google now and my life isn't that sad that i cannot wait a month for it.

Ok I downloaded the firmware and have ODIN 1.85. Let me know what I need to do next.

Thanks

1. If the firmware is in a ZIP/ RAR format unzip it, so that it leaves you with a TAR file.
2. Make sure you either have KIES installed or standalone drivers for S3.
3. Shut the phone down and Press Home+Vol Down+POwer at the same time, hold it like that, until it comes with a screen that say press Vol Up to Continue and do that to get into Download Mode.
4. Open ODIN and clic PDA button. Point it to the TAR file.
5. Connect the phone and wait for drivers to get installed.
6. In ODIN you should see a yellow window with com port number (ODIN 1.85) or blue one (ODIN 3).
When you see the yellow/ blue connection sign also verify that Repartition is NOT checked, hit START.

Progress will be shown above the com port number and phone will auto reboot. When it is all done, the EXIT button will become active in ODIN again.

THANKS! This worked perfect. So now should the phone be as it was from the factory? Also, I noticed that my phone won't pull the update. It says the phone is up to date, but I know there is an update that will change the baseband version to I535VRLG7 from I535VRLF2.

I'm somewhat bricked too, and I need to find the firmware for my phone, and a link to odin would be nice too. I have the model SGH-I535 but I don't see it listed here http://www. sammobile.com/firmware/ so where might I find the right firmware for my phone?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found this guide with links to the files I need. How to Root Verizon Galaxy S3 SCH-I535! | GalaxyS3Root.com

If you follow the instructions from the guy who posted above me you don't have to worry about anything. I was new at all this and I learned how to install roms etc using odin and cwm. I even had a chance to try and use the replacement phone and I still managed to not mess things up. Somehow my phone mysteriously does the update and is now performing like a stock phone.

There is a sticky in this forum that walks you through the entire thing and has links to what you need.
