Root [Verizon] Possible brick, please help

Cole

Newbie
When I unplugged my phone from the charger this morning, I noticed that it took a while to wake up the screen and turn off the green LED. After that, it seemed to be working normally, until a few hours later. I went to plug in a USB drive through my USB OTG cable, and my S3 would not turn on at all. I've tried plugging it in, pulling the battery, booting into recovery, all with no response. I cannot get any lights, vibrations, or reaction from the screen. My computer will not recognize that anything is plugged in when I connect it either. I rooted the phone weeks ago, and have not flashed any kernals or ROMs, so I'm not sure what could have caused this. If anyone has any ideas, please help. Thanks.

can you get into download mode (hold vol down+home and then press power)???

That's what I was afraid of. Is there a best way of handling that without hitting snags for being rooted? Should I go to a Verizon store, call their customer support, or contact Samsung?

well...lucky thing is, if they phone cant turn on...they cant tell its rooted...VZW is going to handle your exchanges not Samsung...

True. I assume that there is no way to access or wipe the internal storage on an unresponsive device. Is that correct?

Okay. Thanks for the help. Guess I'll be visiting VZW. If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to chime in.

I would say try other usb charger wires sometime they can give your phone a jump start so that you can get it going(like a "factory wire"). also try pulling the battery and with the battery out hold the power button down for 20 seconds, replace battery, and try to boot normal. These probably wont help but its worth a try. If you cant get it on after all this and other attempts go to verizon.

this happened to my phone. Though i was responsible for causing it no doubt. There is supposedly a way to get the phone in to download mode by using a "jig dongle". I personally tried to make one myself because i didnt have time to wait for one in the mail. It didn't work. Idk if that's because i made it wrong or it was a different issue with the phone. bottom line i ended up getting a new one...
