[Verizon] Post your worst battery times

So there is a thread(atm directly under this one) called post your best battery times. For jokes I figured I'd start one for posting your worst. I'm talking like full brightness, lte, torrents running in the background, tethering, OC to 1.4 while playing GTA 3 and listening to streaming music type usage.

Mine is 1hr 23min and I was doing what I posted in the op. Looking for screenshot(don't remember where I saved it) and will attach it if I find it.

Do something that nails GPS also, I find that one of the biggest battery drains.

Killed about 8-9% on a 15 minute walk running "My Tracks" and Pandora. My tracks had 3 times the battery usage as Pandora :P

My worst battery time is around 4 hours... stock battery, stock rom. I can imagine draining it in less than an hour by simultaneously streaming/downloading over tethered connection and playing a 3d game a full brightness on the phone. Although I'd be scared to try that as I don't want to melt my phone!

I might try that, but I'll grab an ice pack, drape it with a towel, and put the phone inside then proceed with testing. :p

Yeah, you should try all that while navigating too, lol. I'll be you can kill it in an hour or so then. :p Also, if you're running a custom kernel, you should overvolt the CPU with the adjustable voltages, haha. The battery graph would be at like an 88

This should be interesting, hah.

Lol I might try that...I might need to hold the phone in a freezer while I do it

Not for a lot of us ;)

You must be special then :D:D

What are you doing to get good battery life?

If I don't use my Nexus, then my battery will last all day and still have 50 - 60% life left when I put it back on the charger at night. That's after 15 - 16 hours off charger. But if I use it any at all during the, surfing, gaming, pandora...etc. then say goodbye to battery. I'm on the VZW extended battery, which is a joke, no better than stock battery really.

I do feel very special :D

But seriously, the phone is a pocket PC as we all know. It has an HD screen, of course the battery is going to drain while using it constantly for what it can do. Imagine a laptop with the same capability (not hard) and the size battery it would contain.

I know after all the reading I do on tech forums that I am considered a light to moderate smart phone user. I use it like it was meant to be used, but not 24/7 like many do. I have a laptop and desktop too, this is a smartPHONE.

Having said all that I like my battery life and I'm constantly quasi-testing kernels and tweaks to maximize it. With the right kernel for a phone, and the right tweaks to mV's and freq, one can drastically improve their 'screen-on' battery drain w/o sacrificing performance, unless they 3D game heavily on the phone. Also, everyone's phone is different and handles a variety of tweaks differently. Another factor some never consider is if they have a bum battery. ymwv couldn't be any truer when talking about battery life tweaks.

I have the ext battery, but haven't tried it yet. I remember when the Inc launched. I got one that day and the battery life was abysmal way worse than anything I've seen reported about the GN. I gave mine to my Father-In-Law. My wife presently has one. Both of them go 2 days before they need a recharge. It took over a year of development on kernels and tweaks to get there. Look how far we've come with the GN in one month!

Back to the OP :p So far my worst battery time has been about 6'ish hours. That was unrooted and locked during my 1st 3 days with the phone.

If I start with a fresh fully charged extended battery, I can kill it in about 2 - 2 1/2 hours just surfing the internet. Wi-Fi or 4G doesn't seem to make that much of a difference for me. Still looking for that magic kernel to extend that time a little further.

The other big killer for me is Lotus Notes Traveler. I use that for my work email. If I have it set to push, it drains the battery like crazy. Which is weird because the same app on the iPhone set to push has almost no impact on battery. I venture to guess its some bad coding on the app, maybe specific to something with ICS.

Surprisingly, streaming Google music over 4G at highest quality has a negligible impact on my battery.
