Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

Yeah, my card was tapped on Friday, and I checked this morning and the charge was finally posted, after pending all weekend.

The tracking number I got with DoIt2It's method says it should have went out Friday with delivery by 3pm today (overnight.) But it hasn't changed status at all...

Should I pretty much abandon hope that it'll be here by the Estimated delivery of Jul 9, 2012 by 3:00 PM :(

You don't have to go into a Verizon store to do this, you can also do this via Customer Service. Again, just don't try and activate it from the phone itself. In my case, I upgraded the phone from a different line.

Your situation was exactly like mine, only difference is I came from a Maxx. I checked my status early last week when people were posting that their card was being charged and I saw that my wife's line had some "pending activation" on her line so my account said the same thing. I'm sure you'll be ok to drop the SIM from your GNEX into the S3.

At this point I would say yes :( I just got off the phone with Verizon and was told that orders placed between June 14th-20th have a shipping date of July 10th. When I told her about other individuals having placed orders well after the indicated dates yet have their devices delivered or will have them shortly, she couldn't explain it...I sorta want to bitch in hopes of getting some credit (at least the $30 activation fee waived).

I was told the same. I added a new line to get this phone before the se plans went live. With all the confusion and misinformation I was taking no chances!

I plan on marching into my corporate store on Thursday, phone will be here Tue but I won't, and have them take care if the transfer. I have no intention if getting screwed out of my unlimited it tagged with a data charge in the new line.

Mine was delivered at 8:40 this morning - WOOT! Headed to the local Verizon store at lunch to get it activated, coming from Droid X no SIM card (I don't think, anyway...) and want to make sure it's done right. Y'all have fun!!!

BB says that June preorders should get theirs by the 12th, but any other orders are pushed out to a yet defined date. Yeah right.

This is a prime example of why dealing with a big middle man is not the best option for a launch device. Still, having the 60 days is much better than 14 days, so short term hurt for mid-term gain :)

60 days is plenty of time and the longer the delay, the more chance for overlap with the Moto HD :) - Juuuust in case ;)
 
On with Verizon support trying to get it activated and it keeps wanting to drop my unlimited. Seems Verizon wants to get rid of me.

They are talking about having to do the change then do what they call an inactive pricing request. No idea why activation is such a pain.

ya think that's necessary? I definitely don't wanna go to a store. I'm also coming from an X with unlimited data.

Well not exactly. I may cry once I get it but likely not to the extent of when my first born arrived...yes I admit it...I was crying like a little school girl that just had her older brother pull the legs and head off of her favorite barbie doll. We'll see though :)

YES...we're finally getting them today.

BTW, no the DX doesn't have a SIM card, at least not one that's removable. I'm also coming from the DX...it's been pretty good to me but time to move on. I suppose I'll wipe mine and sell it on craigslist or something.

Nah, not necessary but may be good for piece of mind. I'll be doing mine by calling customer service *611 but will definitely be confirming with them that both the wifey and I retain unlimited data.

I actually trust the folks on the phone more than in store. Those hacks at the store probably won't even know what phone it is. I'm actually somewhat impressed with the VZW customer service people, especially after dealing with those morons from ATT (DSL). BY FAR the worst customer service in the world...no question.
 
the sim card is for 4g...all of us droidx owners just have to activate if you upgraded on your line. verizon doesnt use sim cards guys :)

My droid X gets a retirement finally, well hardly im still gonna mod the sh** out of it but still lol
 
I've got all the pieces sitting here staring me in the face (phone, battery, sim card), and it's oh so tempting to just try it myself.....
 
Arrived 11:45. Sim card in, battery in, and charging. VZW screen up on the computer to activate. Might put the Skinomi screen protector on first. Can't believe how light it is. I like it.
