I just realized that the July 9th ship date coincides with me leaving on a camping trip. Crap! You think VZW will let me change the shipping address to a friend's house?

Yes, can definitely ship to a different address. But, to get it done they may have to cancel your order and place a new one.

I am currently using the galaxy nexus. But in an attempt to keep mine and my wife's unlimited data I'm going to upgrade to the galaxy s 3 and give her my nexus. I am excited for the new technology and the 2 gigs of ram.

I have my wife's S3 and mine being shipped on separate orders. One off the web, one by phone BOTH to my work under my name. They are right, you might have to cancel and re-order though which will lose you a day or maybe more at this rate.

I am actually considering canceling my order and picking up the razr maxx now, something really smells about this whole verizon unlimited data "guarantee". I know I know, beating a dead horse but I have little reason to trust cell phone companies based on past experiences

It has been said by a plethora of people and websites that you wont loose unlimited when you preordered you signed a contract online effective then when you activate the phone then the clock starts but you nenew back then online it says it on contract! ! Stop being paranoid worst Comes to worst and you where right you got 14 to return it and be back to unlimited month to month

Noooooooooooo!

Guess I'll give 'em a call and find out. Might have to talk someone into spending the day @ my house on delivery day.

Quick question. We have 2 Incredibles on our family plan and want to preorder the GS3 before tiered data is implemented.

I was curious about upgrade prices. On Verizon's front page it says it's $199 for the 16gb for preorders (and a new 2 year contract etc).

I log into my account and under each phone it says both phones are discount eligible and then when I click upgrade it says (under each one) "this line can be upgraded at a discounted price!"

Anyway I get all the way through checkout and one line has a $30 discount and the other one has nothing (so prices are $199.99 and $229.99). By discount eligible do they mean just a new contract price? For some reason I thought we got bigger discounts when we upgraded and a $30 discount one one phone seems kinda weak. Is this just the norm?

$199 is the discount price. You got a $30 loyalty discount on the primary line which offsets the $30 upgrade fee on that line. 2nd line gets the discount price of $199+$30 upgrade fee.

Full price is $600 or $700, don't remember for sure...

Is anybody else's pre-order status looking like this? Or do you all have something next to your order date?

Or am I not even on the right page?

Yes.

Thanks for clarifying. It's been 2 years since our last upgrade and haven't been paying attention much, so didn't know if this was just the norm now and it came as a shock at first! :)

Does anyone know if the Verizon variant will be thicker or different in anyway from the International version?

Nope, there are no physical differences. If you put the two next to each other you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The only changes are internal and hardware based.

Are you sure? The Verizon variant of the Galaxy Nexus is thicker and different in some ways than the international version.

I'm just worried about the release date. I don't understand the June 9 or 10 date. Why would VZW risk being two or three weeks behind everyone else and risk an A$$pple injunction? I'm really hoping this is a BY date and not an ON date. I want this sooner than later and leave for vacation a little more than a week after the dates and don't want to risk not having it. Does anyone remember the Dinc release? I know they had huge backorders but don't remember what VZW said the release date was versus when we got out phones.

Nothing has been announced about it being thicker. Verizon's webpage displays the phone as .3" thick. The international version is 8.6mm thick, which is about .338" or .34" thick. Move it up to 9mm and you get .35" and if it was that thick verizon would likely advertise that thickness or round up to .4" since they clearly don't seem to go to 2 decimal places. As such if there is any difference it can't possibly be more than a fraction of a millimeter.

Apple was denied their injunction, so I don't see why anyone thinks they are risking anything at this point. They likely knew it wouldn't affect anything and now there is 0 risk at all so no rush for them.

Many of us are hoping it is a by date rather than an on date. However given that AT&T was pushed back to the 28th, and canadian models are being pushed back to the 27th, it seems right now we just have to hope that verizon's date doesn't get pushed back. At this rate they are barely a week behind some of their competition which isn't that big of a deal.

Welp I preordered my white GS3 the other night. Gonna try to leave it unopened until I hear the verdict on the Razr HD. If I can't return it I can at least sell it for a little below retail price to someone who wants to keep unlimited data.

A question,
I have a family share plan now. First line has a bionic on it that is due for an upgrade. The 2nd line has a Droid X, I preordered the SGS3 for the first line. Will I have a propblem switching the Bionic over to the 2nd line after I get the SGS3 in my hand?

Samsung has bumped the Canadian release another week later. Maybe they are doing the same, or have already told Verizon that they will. In any event, maybe Verizon can start a Public Relations department with all the money they will get. It's obvious they don't have one now.

Nope, just activate the SGSIII on your bionic line. That will kick the bionic off of that line and leave it free to be placed on the line the droid x was on.

The only thing I have noticed is that there may be a bit of a delay for the system to fully update and recognize the phone as being deactivated. However you can check online with the free esn checker, just google it. It shouldn't take over 24 hrs for the bionic to be cleared, and it may be ready instantly. I am not 100% sure on how soon it is available to be activated on a new line, just that another phone i took off of a line took maybe 6-8 hrs to be showing as clear according to the free esn checker website.

The GN was thicker because of the separate LTE radio chip(s) and a slightly larger battery to offset the drain of said separate LTE chipset. The SIII has the LTE radio built into the S4 processor. This means less chips on the board, and more efficient battery usage. That's the reason the LTE variants are dual core instead of quad. Quad core with LTE build in is still 6 months+ from market.

Thanks, was thinking the switch from 3G to 4G would hurt my all you can eat data.

I have to think in 2 years when my contract is up they will have the data plans all sorted out. Id have to think there new contract rate is gonna go down when this stuff rolls out. If it takea a real big dip well see another set of new deals.

Well, then, let's take this thread in a completely different direction for awhile, shall we?

What is your most anticipated feature of the SGS3 and why? What do you look forward to the most?

I'll tell you what I'm NOT looking forward to: no dedicated HDMI port!

I desperately want to ditch my OG Inc and have already preordered the S3. It really sucks there's no dedicated HDMI port; one thing I was looking forward to was hooking my phone up to my TV to play emulators. Can't do that now if I want to use non-Bluetooth controllers (i.e. wireless Xbox 360 controllers)!
