I'm rooted and on HyperDrive RLS 8. Every so often an app I would like to keep running (often the stock messaging app) gets closed by Android. I would like to disable this behavior and have more control over which apps remain open. Sometimes I lose my place where I'm at (reading comments on blogs via the browser) or lose data (messaging app if getting auto closed has trouble loading back up forcing me to clear data and I lose my entire messaging history) and my phone has more than enough RAM to do the job. I have tried setting OOM settings to 'very light' in the tweaks but this behavior still happens. Can the OOM killer be removed or completely disabled?
