Verizon & Prime

Robertp

I have Verizon as carrier. With most phones you have the option for insurrance against accidental damages. It appears that this will not be provided by Verizon for the upcoming Samsung Prime.
Would anybody know if this is true?.......

Thanks,
RJ

Verizon and Sprint use Asurion; and Asurion covers the Nexus S, so no real reason to believe they would not cover any pure Google phone that Verizon may carry.

Where did it appear? I don't see it.

It was at one of those verizon kiosks at the mall in Indianapolis. The guy clearly told me no insurrance option for the Prime. He said he received e-mails about this but was unable to show me.

He did try to push for a Bionic, but as of right now the Prime would be my #1 choice.

It is my guess he was trying to sell you the bionic. He wanted you to buy from him, and not wait for the Prime. By doing so, you are guaranteed to buy from him, and not somewhere else with the Prime. Because if you wait, you most likely won't go back to him to buy. Standard sales tactic. Scare you into thinking you must buy now. The reasons are always different, but the scare is always there.

Prime is not even official, infact the first shot of it just came out today. Guy was clearing talking out his ass.

This...

I can assure you that no emails have even been sent to sales reps or Customer Service acknowledging the Prime. And they certainly wouldn't be discussing insurance options this early in the game. Little details like that are disclosed to the reps a day or so before the release if at all (yes, serious).

this is correct. And on another note, there is no way in hell they wouldn't offer insurance on it. If they do on the iphone with its bloated (seriously bloated) msrp, why wouldn't they on the nexxus? The guy was just trying to get you to buy. Nothing officially has been announced by sammy (samsung) or verizon about the nexus prime. In fact, sammy just had a conference scheduled to detail it and announced "the time isn't right" for them to announce anything regarding the prime. So he was clearly full of it.

Seriously. Insurance/product protection plans are hugely profitable

The bionic, in Verizon's eyes, was "yesterday" at its release. The only reason that issued it was contractual. They're really excited about the upcoming Nexus Prime and Droid Razr.

I have been using smart phones long before they called them smart phones and long before they became fashionable. And I have never purchased any insurance. Same reason I never buy any insurance on any of my electronic devices, I just cannot see the need for it because, first, I take good care of my devices, and secondly, I researched and I bought only the best. Very often, I trade up before the device breaks or has problem. :)

Once again at a Verizon kiosk in the Mall.... The guy clearly did not like the Galaxy Nexus and was talking it down.... He told me that my best bet would be the Motorola RAZR and that it was much better than the Galaxy Nexus and that I will not regret it...... hmmmm

Anyway I wil wait for the Nexus.... By the way he did say that it would go on sale soon maybe even next week.... I am sure they know but will not tell anyone

I would stop going to this guy. He's clearly just trying to get you to buy a phone (any phone) from him... now!

Question.... You think he's paid on commision??? :-)

I'm on the other side of the fence. I've literally saved thousands of dollars because I always buy insurance on my phones. It varies on other electronic products, but I always insure my phones.
