Verizon Rep wouldn't sell a Commando to me

What a day.

I started this morning by going online to place an order for an upgrade to the new Casio Commando 4g and an extended battery. I love my first gen Commando. I wanted to use the ship-to-store option, but couldn't as I'm currently more than 50 miles from my billing address. Okay...

Plan B
I made an appointment online at one of the local VZ corporate stores to make the sale in person and cut down on the wait. The rep wouldn't sell me the Commando! He kept telling me I didn't need it(?!), it's not rugged like the old one anyway and I should get an iPhone 4. Ummm... no. (Please tell me this was an idiot of a salesman. Refusing to sell me what I want. Harumph.)

Plan C
I drove across town to another VZ corporate store and waited and waited and waited since I didn't have an appointment at that location. Finally I got a rep who agreed to sell me the Commando and extended battery. Then he found he didn't have the battery and couldn't get it shipped to the store. Weird, but whatever. He could happily sell me a $99 Mophie ruggedized battery pack - no thanks. Fine, I'll get the extended battery later. Oh snap - now I've got to muck about with the mail-in rebate and can't even get everything I'm trying to buy? Forget it. I'll go back home and order online and wait until next Wednesday for delivery. But....

Plan D
The Verizon online store has received an "upgrade" this afternoon and the Commando 4g is not shipping until Aug. 23rd!

End of day? Disappointed. No order placed, no purchase made, no phone in hand. I think I'll wait this out a week or two. Seems something is afoot at Verizon.

I notice that other accessories are also unobtainable at this point. You can get plenty of desk cradles if you want to spend $57 + shipping on ebay.

There are cradles available on Amazon for $49, but no phone or batteries.

Still can't believe the first salesman was so adamant that I shouldn't buy the new Commando. Y'all aren't that unhappy with it, right?

He was just trying to make quota. I called Verizon direct in search of the desk cradle. I gave the part number and explained what it was and why I needed it... the guy looked in all 4 warehouses and didn't find it, then he tried REALLY HARD to sell me some external battery charger thingee, saying I could use it just like a desk cradle...
