Root Verizon S5 Tethering

So I just got a shiny new S5 and have been wading through all the posts trying to figure out if I can or should root this thing. 99% of the reason why I want to root is for the wireless tether. What is currently the best (free) option to obtain a wireless tether on this phone? Rooting or an app?

You don't need root, VZW let's us tether now if you want.

I don't need it, but it is there.

Does it work well? I see they disconnect you unless you buy the paid version, which I dont mind but they state it does not work will all phones and may stop working too..

I paid for it about 4 or 5 years ago to use on my first smart phone, a Samsung Galaxy S and at that time, had Unlimited Data plan.

I doubt that subscription is valid anymore.... and I have not even tried to use it on my S5....
I don't use enough data to even begin to worry about exceeding my 3 gB data plan...
but, I am not tethering a laptop off of it either. I do that at night from a motel or other WiFi hotspot IF out and not at home.

At home, I have ADSL 11.5 mB downlink, 500 kB uplink for my desktop PC.

My Verizon cellphone walks circles around my AT&T ADSL connection, but I can't afford to use that much data all the time via VZW. so, I crawl along on the ADSL connection.

Foxfi works great you do not have to root your phone right now I'm looking to see if the newest version of lollipop stops my foxfi from working. I have a samsung s5 phone and they haven't been able to stop it yet but always check before you update that it doesn't stop it from working. That's what I'm looking around now for now
