Verizon screwing me???

I have a grandfathered 450 talk, unlimited text/data line that currently holds my Gnex. I tried to add a line online tonight in order to get the Moto X and keep my unlimited data. After talking to the online rep, he told me that I cannot add a line to my plan because I'm on an old "single line plan". So either I upgrade to the Moto X and lose my unlimited data or buy the Moto X at full retail.

I have a dumb phone here that I was all set to put on the new line, then transfer the Moto X to my current line. If this is all true then is there no way for me to upgrade ( without paying full retail price ) and keep my unlimited data? I feel like there are a lot of people out there who have an old unlimited line grandfathered in who have done the same thing and been successful.

Thoughts???

Yes, because family plans and individual plans were two different plans and are no longer available. So individuals can't convert to family and vise-a-versa.

Yeah to my knowledge, it's people who were on the older family plans (like Nationwide) which shared minutes/texts who could do this.

There is currently a loophole in their new EDGE program that lets you upgrade your phone on the program and keep your unlimited data. Not sure if it will hold up, but I ordered mine on Wednesday night. Should be delivered on Tuesday.

PLEASE PLEASE head over the android central forums to get accurate information on adding a second line to upgrade to a subsidized smartphone and than put it on your unlimited line without losing unlimited. Thank you.

I didn't read the entire thread but doesn't the OP say you need a family plan with more than one line to do this? Because that's exactly what we've been saying.

The point of that thread was to show you that you CAN add a second line to get a subsidized phone THEN add a dumb phone and cancel the data plan. It's beneficial to read through the entire thread. It answers any and all questions and if it doesn't than you can post a question in there. I've done this recently and went from one line to 5 lines. I have the unlimited data plan originally and now I have 4 with a line I use for upgrades.

^^^ This. :banghead:

I'm done trying to help smh.....

If you could copy the post that includes the instructions on doing so and paste it into a post here, that would much more helpful than searching the whole thread. All we've been able to see is the op plainly states that you must already be on a family plan.

What the other two guys were trying to get at is that you aren't helping at all. We all already know you can add a line for upgrades if you already have a family plan. The OP did not already have a family plan and cannot switch to one as they do not exist anymore. Therefore, this option will not work for him.
