[Verizon] Set CPU vs Codename Android vs Franco Kernel

ggorin

Newbie
I know this may sound insane, but all of these and other apps/ROMs/kernels, may allow to manage CPU. I am new to this rooting thing and I would like to see what people say in terms of choosing which to use for CPU controls, recommendations.

Basically I have all 3 of the things on the subject and need some guidance about what to do to improve battery life and performance.

Any input appreciated!

Don't know much about kernels but I use set cpu to turn the clock down while the screen is off. I set it to 350-750 or whatever it is and it seems to help me out quite a bit.

Thanks. I have SetCPU with settings that should help, but just as an example, my phone has been discharging for just over 10 hours, less than 30 minutes of screen time and it is already at 36% battery. It just doesn't make sense.

Any ideas? Is SetCPU not working? Is there conflict between all the things that can control the CPU (SetCPU, CNA settings, Franco Kernel settings)?

There can be conflicts with those functions, yes. Your best bet is to remove SetCPU and try flashing a different kernel. Only this time, flash TricksterMOD with the kernel and only use it for kernel control. SetCPU used to be the best things out there, but It's not anymore. It is still good, but TricksterMOD is better IMHO.

Edit: also, a lot of these kernel governors are designed with profiles built into them, which eliminates the need for SetCPU and it's profiles.

Why changing the kernel? Is Franco a problem? Which one would you recommend?

Also, tried to get Trickster mod from the Play store and would not let me. Will have to search for the apk some other way.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks by the way!

Nothing wrong with franko, just maybe your phone doesn't agree with it. Some phones hardware just seems to work better with different software than others. Search Google for TricksterMOD and follow the XDA-Developers link.
Oh, and maybe give Faux kernel a shot.
