Any way to get rid of the WiFi notification in my tray?

Thanks mike! Unfortunately it didn't work for me. :( its a nice start tho. I think it might be for ICS only. I was reading thru the comments and seen a lot of comments refurring to ics. And the process I had to follow to do it was a bit different then the guide. I'll keep looking. Now I know what I'm kinda looking for
 
If you don't reboot your phone often you can just kill the process. Long press on it --> App Info, Force stop. It will come back the next time you reboot.

I seen that but I really want a more permanent solution. Its kinda rediculas that its even there.
