Root [Verizon] Stupid CM question.. ?

On the M builds, is the M1 really newer than the M2?
It is by the release date, but I'm worried I'm being thick-headed and missing something. I ran the M2 recently and loved it, aside from NFC being stuck off.
The m1 has a newer date though.. ?

The most recent CM M1 is the 10.1 version that is running Android 4.2.1. The older CM10 M2 is running Android 4.1.2 if i'm not mistaken.
