[Verizon] tether question

i have used roughly 12 gigs of internets. i tethered my xbox for a lil while, my laptop, and did some other tethering. i know it's a subject for debate, how i can use my own internets..................

my question is, how is this being measured?

my FoxFi app shows 14KB of usage!

i dont know how foxfi measures your data, but rest assured verizon is probably monitoring your data usage. 12 gigs of data is A LOT! but it is all your choice of tethering or not, i think that you can just check your data usage and guesstimate it from there, im not sure how foxfi how it works, but i hope you can find your answer.

honestly 12 gigs isnt all that much...

i average about 6-7-8 a month w/o tethering some months. streaming music and HQ youtube EATS data like no other. not to mention Netflix!!

i have had a 20 gig month and a 2 gig month so i'm sure VZW is aware.

hmmmm it's being used like data for the browser because Chrome doesn't show up on my data usage either. that's my guesstimate

i agree, i would honestly bet that 75%-80% of the forums barely use 4 gigs of data a month. just a hunch.

why are you tethering so much data anyway? do you not have home internet? not trying to be rude but home internet is pretty cheap nowadays. i think comcast offers high speeds for about $40 a month.

my only question really is what are you going to do when you do not have unlimited data anymore? or are you going to shell out $600 for a brand new phone to keep the unlimited data?

let's say that all you get is high speed internet, and let's say the max price of it is.

in my area, you can get Comcast high speed internet with powerboost 20mb down and 4mb up for $19.99!! its cheap, so take into consideration you purchase it, and you go through everything, bill comes in, take into account taxes, im guessing around $30-35 for internet (not bad if you ask me)
so lets say
35x12= 420
where as a brand new phone to continue with your unlimited data is 600+ (depending on the phone)
or you can keep your current phone indefinitely, but will you?
and of course once your contract is up and you can upgrade, you can purchase a new phone for about 200 give or take.
im just trying to give you some insight, you can save a lot more money at the end of the year with internet rather than purchasing a $600+ phone to tether all your equipment. because after a while, verizon will take everyone off unlimited data and you will be on a data share plan with or without your consent.
