You can also pay online via a checking account. The article specifically says debit/credit cards, so I assume this charge will not apply if you use your checking account information for VZW to do a draft from your checking account.

I will say this I just paid with my debit and did not notice any fees nor did I notice a change in the amount from my paper bill to the amount listed on the payment kiosk

The article stated that the fee is to start on Oct 16th and will apply to landline, DSL, and FiOS customers only. It also states that is no plan to apply this to Wireless customers (yet).

According to their website, you only get charged $3.50 if you make a payment without being registered for MyAccount.

I only have wireless with VZ but its a disturbing notion. Although last time I called *611 I was told via automated message Im get a $2.xx credit, probably my chunk of the millions they're paying out now for over-charging us
