Root [Verizon] To Root Or Not Root

Ok, so I just picked up an S3 and I am fairly new to this platform. I have rooted the thunderbolt, rezound, and a nexus. I guess my question is, is it really worth rooting and unlocking and putting a custom rom on it? I have played with phone for about two weeks now and actually really like it a lot. I am also getting about 18 to 20 hours of battery life out of it(not a heavy user). I was just wondering if rooting and all that good stuff would actually improve the phone that much? i.e. phone responsiveness and battery life? I know it could depend on what rom and kernel combo i choose but was just curious. Thanks for reading this. Just a noob to the S3.

In my opinion, if you want to explore the inner depths of the phone and change things that you normally cannot change, then yes, root the phone.
If you like to try new things like roms/kernels and love to tinker with the phone, then yes, root the phone.
If you want to try and tweak all settings for better battery life, then yes, root the phone.

If you are content with what you have, and are satisfied with your battery life and the phone is operating smoothly then no, don't root the phone.
There are several launchers and other apps that can make the phone look totally different without rooting.

Root . . . ! I definately say to root your Galaxy s3. If you are apprehensive about doing so, that`s understandable. As Mike stated, if you are tech oriented, Rooting is a neat way to explore the technical aspects of what this amazing phone ia really capable of. Also there are many, many helpful & experienced members of this great community that are more than happy to help with any questions you have during the process. Believe me, once you have rooted your s3, your only regret will be that you didn`t do it sooner !
