I'm afraid I can't explain it any better than was done in that thread. It includes a step by step guide already.
You are wanting to unroot in your first request but please be advised that wifi tether requires root. I'm assuming there are custom roms that include that feature, or it can be done manually on a stock, rooted (4.2.2 verizon) phone using these instructs:
