Root [Verizon] Verizon S3 not recognized by pc

I need some help...

I have a Verizon Samsung S3 (sch-i535)
I am trying to root the phone. I am a little new to the S3 and rooting.

The phone was just updated with Android 4.1.2.

The problem I am having is that WITH USB debugging enabled,
Resetting the phone, wiping the phone to clean, clearing the Cache,
The phone is still not recognized on the pc.

I have tried pulling the battery, letting it sit for 1 min then trying again.
>still not working.

I have tried multiple computers- Still not recognized.

I tried w/out the 4GLTE Card in it, still not recognized.

I am looking for some help...

Has anyone else run into this??
Is there a fix?

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Also . . . use the Samsung cord supplied with the phone. Others can cause communications issues.

Edit: In the pull-down menu, make sure connect as a media device is chosen, & not connected as an installer.

To Rick Balbalu:
I have Win 7 & 64 bit.
I DO have the Samsung Drivers direct from Samsung & from XDA site.

Still not noticing it.

To TalonTrax:
I have tried like 3 different cords.. but honestly i don't think i have tried the samsung cord.. I will try that when i get home... Great idea.

Also, you say "In the pull-down menu, make sure connect as a media device is chosen, & not connected as an installer"
I do not see that as an option on the Verizon S3 (sch-I535) in the settings.
is it hidden somewhere?

Thank you guys for your help...
I appreciate EVERYTHING!

Is any other program trying to connect with the device when plugged in?
Try this, uninstall the drivers, reboot the computer, reinstall the drivers, reboot the computer.
And like Talon suggested, use the OE cord. Other cords sometimes have issues:)

I have a Windows 7 laptop, XP desktop, and a Mac. I have had no issues connecting to any of them. Below are some possible things to check if you have not done so already:

Did you reboot your PC after install?
Is your PC up to date?
In device manager, check to make sure that the samsung drivers are listed and there is not a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark.
Is USB debugging checked on your phone?
Have you tried a different USB port?

When I attach my sg3 to the p/c (win xp sp3), The upper taskbar of the phone displays "connected as a media device". For some weird reason, my wifes identical phone/rom/kernel combo connects & says "connected as an installer". This can be changed by pulling down the notification screen (touch @ the top of ths homescreen & swipe downwards), & tap the "connected as" notification & tap it for options. This is not your issue though as I read your posts. I fear that somthing is awry in your phone`s mini port/mini usb interface connection.

Edit !!!
I forgot something . . .
Had this issue myself . . .
Remove the rear cover, remove the battery, remove the sim card, & remove the sd card if you have 1. Re-assemble reboot.
Worked for me when I had the same issue. Must be getting old. Alzheimers starting to kick in . . .

This has been know to works about 80% of the time, give it a shot. Completely uninstall Kies and the Drivers installed. Reboot the computer. Now download and install the latest version of Kies. Do Not Plug the phone in as yet. Once Kies and drivers are installed on your Windows 7 machine disconnect it from the internet. Once it is disconnected plug in your phone and let it install the drivers. Disconnecting the internet will force Windows to install the drivers from Kies instead of pulling their version from the Windows Update center. If this works Do Not Let Windows update the drivers through Window Update.
