Root [Verizon] What are nightlies?

During my Droid X days, I hadn't dealt with "nightlies". What exactly are these in comparison to other ROMs?

I haven't had experience with them but pretty sure they are tweaks done by the developer each day/night and then released 'nightly' to those who are on that specific ROM...

Yes as its been quite vaguely stated above, nightly builds are just minor adjustments which have been made which developers release to keep you up to date. These nightly releases are by no means to be taken as final products as opposed to stable builds/releases which are what the developer recognizes as the completely bug/lag free model.
