Root [Verizon] What makes this work?

I have had many different android phones over the past few years and most recently came from a galaxy nexus and I've found a feature in the s3 I love, but wonder why it would never work with any other versions of android. I want to go back to Jellybean, but I'm assuming this feature probably has something to do with touchwiz so for now I am on synergy. Anyway, I have a Pioneer navigation head unit that I use in my car to stream bluetooth audio. The S3, however, is the first phone I've had that will actually display the song info on the screen of the unit. It gives me artist, album, and track. It may not sound like a big deal, but I love this subtle little feature and wanted to know if anyone knew what made it do that because I would really like to move back to a jellybean rom if I knew how to make that work. Also I am using Poweramp to play my music so it's not the factory music app. Thanks guys.
