[Verizon] Windows 8 and Galaxy Nexus - Files not Showing

Ever since I made the switch to Windows 8 I can't get my Galaxy Nexus to read on my desktop. Works find on my laptop running Windows 7 and also with XP.

Ive tried USB debugging etc, but I cant even drag files to my phone (mp3) anymore because it doesn't show up in windows explorer.

I've resorted to putting everything to a USB Drive and transferring to my laptop and then connecting the phone to the laptop to drag files over. There has to be an easier way.. can anyone share any input?

Wow, that's not good since I was thinking about upgrading to Win8

Have you downloaded the Galaxy Nexus drivers to your Win8 PC? I would suppose so, but it's a thought... you might contact Samsung customer support to see what they have to offer in the way of updated Windows drivers...

Have you tried turning ADB off? I noticed that if you had ADB on for Windows XP, it won't let you open the internal storage in Windows Explorer. Not sure about Windows 8 though.

It sounds like a driver issue, because I have Win8 on my desktop and can access the files no problem. There's also Airdroid to things via WiFI and avoid the whole mess.

jhawkkw what drivers did you install or what settings do you have checked off on the phone?

When I plug it in I can see my mouse spin as if it was trying to load the device but it never shows up..

I installed the Samsung drivers that come with wugs toolkit. If you go through the driver installation tutorial, it should set up the adb and fast boot drivers. For the adv drivers, you need to have USB debugging on. All you need for fast boot drivers is to boot the phone into the boot loader.

If you need the mtp driver to install, delete the current installation of it and then unplug and re plug in the device to get it to reinstall.

I fixed this, I was running Windows 8 N without media player

For some reason downloading and installing windows media player put on the correct MTP Drivers and now the computer reads the nexus..
