Verizon won't activate my droid

The seller responded to me. He said he did not realize Verizon would lock the phone and that he'd give me a refund. Thank God...

Very good. It turns out he was not scamming a buyer, just didn't know the rules.

Glad it turned out that way.

I admit to being curious as to how much you paid for the Droid on eBay.

All the seller has to do is activate the phone on his account, accept the terms and conditions of his contract renewal, and then reactivate his old phone. The ESN will then be released in the system.

This is assuming that it hasn't been reported lost/stolen and he used his upgrade to get the Droid and immediately sold it to you.

Luckily you had eBay, and PayPal to potentially fall back on. A while back I took my little sister to the Verizon store because her Samsung Alias was acting up. The service rep there said he didn't have any at the moment, but was having a replacement sent out to us. No biggie. It came within a few days, so I took it to the store to have the contacts and number transferred over.

The service rep told me he couldn't activate the phone because it was previously reported stolen, and began asking me where I got it, etc etc. Wouldn't believe that VERIZON sent it to me.

Long story short, after lots of phone calls up the food chain, she got upgraded to a new Alias 2.

I bought a phone and it was locked. I called and told the sn and they said it has been reported stolen. I got the tun around on a refund and said screw it. I let my nephew have it after I set it up for wifi. I have full access to everything except calling from a personal number. I put netcalling app on it so his parents can use that if they have a wifi connection and not use their own minutes. It is basically just a toy now. Kinda like an ipod touch. lol

yup I see this stuff all the time. Beware on ebay. The OP got lucky honestly. Most sellers like that just ignore you or tell you too bad. Be a little more careful next time, and really, take a look at an indirect agent for a phone. I work for one and our phones are always lower priced than corp verizon. right now we have the charge for $100 less than corp does.
