Verizon

I got this weird call from Verizon this weekend with a guy asking how I liked my Verizon service. At first I thought it was a followup because my Verizon internet was down two days last week but this was not the case.
Anyway I have two lines used by my elderly parents that I have not upgraded in a long time and the two year contracts are out on.
The guy asked me if I planned on staying with Verizon and if I liked he would give me a month free on each of these lines just because I was a "loyal customer". Well $20.00 off sounds good, right? So he ask me to listen to a recorded disclaimer with "renew" vaguely dropped in it somewhere.
So when he comes back I ask him if this is renewing my two year contracts on the lines? Him: "Well um.. yes but you did indicate you wanted to stay with Verizon didn't you? Me: "Yes but why would I want to renew my contract? What about the new every two on those lines?" Him: "We COULD let you keep your new every two." Me: "WOW! thanks! so you want me to lock myself into another two years with Verizon so I can save $20.00 for one month?" Him: "yes" Me: "No thanks, goodby" CLICK.

I guess I'm posting this to say "Just beware of what these scumbags try to pull over on you".

Good thing you paid attention and actually listened to the recording! Wonder how many folks fall for that. What a sad, sorry way to do business and treat your customers!

My sister fell for that one about 2 months ago. It may not be worth much without the New Every 2 but she won't do that one again!
