Verizon's NEW text messaging app

Verizon's NEW text messaging app works great with the Nexus 7. If you haven't tried it I suggest you do.
But be aware that unlike Google Voice, you have to have text messaging service on a Verizon cell number. I suspect that most do, being included in the Share Everything plans, but lots of us don't.

Mine is now working. Is this totally free then? Have to do a little more research. Been using might text but this one has a few more options if it is free.

Good find! Thank you. I have tried several and wanted one that used my Verizon cell # and was reliable sending and receiving texts.

The app is free but the texts sent/received go against your phone plan's text count. My plan has unlimited texts so it is free for me.

From the FAQ on the Verizon website:

How much does Verizon Messages cost?
There’s no charge to download the Verizon Messages app from the Google Play™ Store,* and there’s no recurring subscription fee to have the service.

Messages sent and received using Verizon Messages will count towards your Smartphone’s messaging plan. Messages that are synced to and from an Android™ tablet over a Wi-Fi network will not incur data charges.
