I wanted to update to the latest version of the OS. My daughter has the same model and her version is 4 something. Mine says 2 something and PC companion says it is up to date. What is the latest version today?

That varies depending on network and country the handset was made for. Please check here for a list of all current build numbers that have the ICS version released.

I was getting nowhere with various problems. I went to companion to try and download an update. It said that there was no connection with the server. It was connected to WiFi. I then noticed a repair option.
That did the trick and I am now on version 4, and it all seems to be working.
