Help Versus 10.1" tablet android upgrade

If there isn't one available via the "software updates" menu (in Settings > About) then probably not. You could check the manufacturer's website to see whether they have released one, or you could see whether there is a custom ROM based on a later version (if you are prepared to learn about rooting, and assuming that anyone has made one for that device, which is far from guaranteed for an obscure budget brand).

Android (like any mobile OS) has to be built for the specific device, and it's the manufacturer who does this and distributes the updates. There's no "generic" OS you can install on any device, so if the manufacturer doesn't provide updates (less likely with minor, budget manufacturers) that's usually it.

OK. Thanks guys :)

The tablet does what I need to do for the time being apart from a few bits and pieces so it's probably easier just to buy another if/when I need some specific piece of software to run.

I use Linux on my PC's and am used to compiling drivers and upgrading bits of software.

As you say, probably best to buy a more widely known brand next time.

Thanks anyway :)

If you are familiar with Linux then you are already one step closer to compiling your own ROM. Don't ask me how though, I'm still learning myself. That first thread I posted is a good place to start.

Edit: Got ahead of myself. First you need to unlock the bootloader, then compile a custom recovery, then a ROM.
