Root Very New to Rooting

I am going to root my phone but and am extremely new to this. The main things I want in rooting is to remove all of the unnecessary apps, free wireless hotspot, and improved battery life. What is the best way to root my phone if I am a newbie at this. Should I use this guide? All information is helpful. Just scared to brick my phone or mess it up.

If you follow that guide, and take your time, and read everything through, you will be more than fine. You will learn a lot, and if youre careful about following the directions, you dont have to worry about bricking your phone.
