Help very slow recieving emails sometimes not at all

Hi everyone im new to android but am loving the new mopho!!! i am having a problem recieving emails, it is taking extremely long also takes a while to update facbook. any suggestions?
 
I would start by checking the settings on when your apps are syncing. You can change the frequency an app accesses the internet.
