Viber Crashing

lethal1

Newbie
Hi, Been using Viber on my HTC desire HD for some months, the latest update crashes on opening and generates two crash reports which are emailed.
Each of these reports bounce back (?).

I have also sent a IM on facebook to Viber in regard to this (no response).

The website appears to have no real support structure apart from a faq.

I have had some success IF a Viber contact sends me a viber txt...I am then able to communicate. However once closed the app continues to crash on attemtping to open.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Like the app (Viber), but wondering if there are better around (now that Viber has degenerated), and would appreciate any comment in this regard...or suggestions to fix the Viber fault.

cheers

thanks dreadnatty08,

I have sent an IM (I think) to them.

If there are any others with alternative suggestions to viber, or similar experience...they would be welcome.

I'm having the same issue with viber. I recommend that you use kakao talk as an alternative means. I have found this to work almost flawlessly. The problem is that most people don't have it installed. You will have to spread the word.

Hi ViberMedia,

Thanks for the response.

However in the 2 to 3 WEEKS since my last and original post, viber have released two more updates, one of these solved my problem (and yes I was about to start KaKao).

Dont understand especially as three users on this thread alone, had issues, why it took so long for you to join.

IM's are apparently useless to you, and crash report emails bounce back, and as for your website....
What game/industry are you in again? (sic).

Poor form

I feel confident in saying none of the three users in this post will be as patient again...

cheers

@lethal1 -

I apologize for the delay in our answer here. We are sometimes late the time it takes to get the notifications in Forums.
About the crash reports being returned to the users - we are aware of this issue, and are working hard to fix it right now.
Lastly, our HelpDesk is built in a way that users can find the relevant information before having to contact us. This helps both them and us saving a great deal of time.

Having explained all of the above, we still would like to apologize for the delay in the assistance that you received. We will make sure that this does not happen again in the future, and I can assure you that I am here in this thread to address any other issues you may have in the future.

In the meanwhile, we are glad to hear Viber is once more working for you, and we hope that you're enjoying it :)

Hi ViberMedia,

Thanks for your response.
Apologies for the tone of my last, however it was justified in part.
The assistance you provide on application faults on your site and even facebook let us down. Your emails bouncing back compounded the issue.
After I was redirected to the best spot to contact you here to seek assistance, not to get a response for well over 10 days was further frustrating.
I appreciate and have noted you comments
regards

Lethal, I have seen ViberMedia here helping folks out for some time and I can assure you this is the exception, not the norm. They are usually very responsive by at least checking in on the thread and letting users know they are aware of the issue. I'm sorry your thread was missed by them but am also happy that they got your issue resolved. Hopefully if something comes up in the future you will get their normal level of assistance.:)

Hi Unforgiven,

It certainly wasnt my intention to 'shoot the messenger' here, or shun the offer of closer review of potential future issues (which is appreciated), here.
As shown by my 'moderated' subsequent post.

The intergrity of the various processes/procedures clearly let me (and other users) down.

Unfortuntely this reflects and reflected on the entity.

Thanks for your interest

cheers

I suffered a crash. But did cleared data, logged-in again, and the problem seems to have gone away.

No doubt this was a poor response from Viber and you were certainly justified in being frustrated. I am not a user of the app or in any way associated with them. I just wanted to point out that they are usually far more responsive.

@lethal1 -
As we explained, there was an unfortunate coincidence of events, and we have taken note of this case and will try our best to prevent it in the future.

In the future, you can rest assured that you can contact us via this thread, and we will try to respond to you promptly.

Please note that Viber does not officially support your device yet, and that may be the reason for the problems you are experiencing. Here is the full list of officially supported devices: Is your Android compatible with Viber (system requirements)?
We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more devices, and we hope to attend to the problems with your device soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.
