Help Viber on sony ericsson xperia 2.1

Hi everybody,
I have 2 xperia sony ericsson (E15i) Firmware 2.1 1.
I already have viber working perfectly on one of them, I tried to download viber on the second device but could't, I contacted viber team who told me that viber is not supported on android which are less than 2.2. My question for them which is still un answered is that why Viver is working on the first device and not working on the second one while the 2 devices are exactly the same.

They are both definitely on firmware 2.1.1?
Perhaps the Viber app on the one working is an old version and updated versions since on the play store no longer support older firmwares.
Can you copy the apk from the working one and copy it over to the other phone?
 
This is the info I have found when I click on : '' settings'' then ''about the phone''
Model number:E15i
Firmware version:2.1-update1
Kenrnel version: 2.6.29
Build number: 2.1.1.A.0.6

This is on the xperia where viber is not working.

I will post the info about the 2nd xperia where viber is working tomorrow as my wife took it with her.

However, I am sure that they have the same firmware, I remember that when I contacted sony support team, I was told that the latest firmware on the E15i is 2.1.

About your question, I don't know how to copy the apk from the 1st xperia to the 2nd one, would you please explain to me how to do that ?

I assume you aren't rooted. There is this app on the market for non rooted devices to extract an apk if the viber version is an old one that works https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ext.ui looks promising. Install that on the phone with working viber, extract apk to sd card, put sd in other phone and install the app from sd (you will need to allow installing from unknown sources).
 
I didn't success with the apk you sent me, but I downloaded another one, and thanks to it I extracted the viber apk but I couldn't put it on the second xperia as I couldn't read the file on the memory card when I put it on the xperia which has no viber.I am posting the viber apk.

Please, any ideas???
 
For you first device it's working and second one not working. Though they are same device. Try to setting all like the first one. Then it's may work I think.
 
they are set same.
According to viber support team, viber is no more supported on android 2.1 and less. But it is working on one of my 2 xperia 2.1, unfortunately not on the 2nd one.

So as you can see, they are exactly same. The only difference is that viber is working on one and not on the other.
 
It was suggested you put an earlier version on the device to see if you could install that. You said you downloaded one but couldn't read the file on the memory card. What do you mean by that? Until you can get an apk to that device, nothing is going to happen. Do you mean you couldn't find it? There's a lot of old versions here http://www.androiddrawer.com/20634/download-viber-app-apk/
 
Sorry bip_bip, I didn't see that you had replied and got further with this.
That's very strange that it doesn't read the apk. What did it say? Did you check to allow unknown sources as by default the package installer won't work on anything tried to install not from play.
Otherwise I suggest trying again or grabbing one from pugs post. See what happens. Did you see what version of viber is on the working phone?

Dear Pugs, thanks for your answer.
There is no old version of viber, all of them are for androids 2.2 and up., that's what I was told by viber support team. ( You can even read it on the link you posted , on the left) xperia is an android 2.1.1

Yes, I extracted the viber apk from the xperia where viber is working and sent it to memory card, but the second xperia I couldn't find the viber apk file, I could only see my album photos, there was no apk file. On the xperia, there is no way how to read the whole memory card.
I am attaching photos of the menu of my xperia where viber is not working.

Yes, I did allow unknown sources as you can see on the photo I am attaching. Both devices are on the same android version 2.1.1 which is the latest one on xperia E15i and according to sony support team there will be no other update for these mobiles.

Have you thought about uploading the Viber apk to a file sharing site and download to the Viber-less device? The download should hopefully give you the option to install.
As an aside can you tell me what version of Viber is installed on the working device?

I sent the viber apk through email and opened my email and tried to download it, but after several minutes, the downloading fails, I don't know why. I tried 4 times.
I don't know what version of viber is it ( I will check it this evening ) all I know now is that the xperia in on 2.1.1 version.
 
Sorry, from those screen shots I'm assuming you are just looking for the apk in your apps menu? It won't be there until you actually install it. You will need to navigate to where you saved the apk on the SD using a file manager on the phone then select the app and it should open package installer.
 
that's the problem, there is no file manager on my xperia, otherwise I could read the my memory card and the apk which is in it.
 
How about downloading a file manager from playstore? ES FIle explorer and Astro are good
 
Ok, I doawloaded the file manager from playstore which enabled me to read my memory card, I found the viber apk which I extracted from the xperia where viber is working and did instal it in the second xperia where viber wasn't working. Now, have viber working on both xperia :) . I will do the same for skype now.

Have you tried using PC Suite to access the device. I believe it can be used to install apps
 
Problem resolved !

Notice that viber apk for android 2.1 is attached above, so whoever needs it, do not hesitate :)
