Vibration Settings

Okay, so I was wondering can I make it so my phone vibrates when I get a notification while the ringer volume is on vibrate? I know that if you put the ringer volume on vibrate/silent, it turns off any notification activity so your phone only lights up for a second and has the notification LED. But I want it so it vibrates when I get a message/notification while the ringer setting is on vibrate. I use my phone in school, and this would really help so I don't have to check it constantly to see if something new has happened. Is there anything I can do about this? or is it something I'll just have to live with?

So with the new Jellybean update (4.1.1 T-Mobile), it allows the phone to vibrate when I get a text message while the ringtone isn't on vibrate.
