Video: A quick rundown of the HTC Evo V 4G

I'm glad to know that Virgin Mobile subscribers are able to enjoy such an awesome device. √ {:)}

interesting... So it seems that isn't even technically the VM version... Maybe Sprint had extra's that they needed to sell so they just didn't bother to do anything about them but load VM software on it and sell it like that... I really am curious if there will be any differences with the VM branded ones...

What's interesting is that all "professional" video demos, pictures and reviews show no sprint branding. But does show virgin mobile branding on back. I don't see why vm would ship a phone with another's branding on it and in a box that the device looks diff.

What hboot version you have?

1.57 hboot , is that bad for custom roms and s-off ? also what does s-off do ? will that stop us from getting sense 4.0 eventually ?

I think the ones with the Sprint branding on the front are the discontinued ones sent back from Sprint stores. The ones sent out from VM will probably have the VM logo on the back and nothing in the front.

They probably rushed to slap on the new software and send it out without properly branding the phones to fulfill some of the demand.

I have no idea what this "hboot" is. Tell me where to find it and I'll let you know.

Pull battery and reinstall. Hold vol down while powering on. You will go to a white screen. Look for the word hboot and there should be a number there

It says HBOOT-1.57.0000
Dated April 20, 2012

So no s-off. I have verified from 3 diff people now. So HTC unlock is the only choice for now. Possibly only chance is that if the sprint 3d gets upgraded to same hboot when their ics gets released.

It means you can't flash kernel from recovery. You also can't flash radios either

You can fastboot flash recoveries (so yea no flashing from recovery agreeing with you here) but you should still be able to flash radios through the hboot ;).

In reality s-off isn't absolutely needed for anything... sure it helps since you won't have to flash the kernel separately from a rom but really that's all...

If that's all it is (having to flash a kernel separately from a ROM), that's not a big deal. All that would be is one extra step.

yeah, the virgin branded ones only have a single core! OMGAWD

Ehh. I'd rather have the phone the way they intended. Let's just hope there's no major bugs like the MT. Hopefully they didn't rush the software development.

No radio can be flashed unless its part of ruu or signed flashable zip in hboot
