Help Video Calls - Google, Skype?

SFBayArea

One of the reasons I wanted to change to the new phone is to be able to have a video chat via Skype or other means.
So far I know that there is no official Skype version, instead I downloaded developer Skype version (it was posted on the forum here) and used it once. While it work, the market wants to update it everytime and once it does it I loose the video call ability.

Is there Google video calls available? My friend has Samsung Galaxy S2 on Sprint and she has no problem video calling people with google accounts.

Anybody knows software that would combine your skype contacts and your google contacts and allow video calling to those who can accept it?

Built in Google "Talk" app works but only over wifi. I hope Skype doesn't take long to update their app. I would like to be able to video chat (cross platform) with friends that don't have Android devices.

I am using Tango, works great for my friend and I. I can't get our Google Talk to see that she has a video camera but she can see others. On my end, I can see others with a video icon but not on hers. Weird.

For Tango, you need your receiving end to have the same software - Tang right?

I use Tango, I have problems with Skype's overall quality on the PC and choose to use Oovoo over Skype. For some reason the video on skype is more laggy and lower quality on the PC.
I tried the developer version on my phone in hopes of it being better but I guess I'll have to wait for a real version to try again

I've used Tango once and things were a little choppy but that may have been because I wasn't on wifi at the time. Not unlike you one of my big things in getting the Razr was to have the ability to do video chat with relatives on the other coast, so I'm getting used to my phone, getting used to the smartphone world, and then going to refine my efforts. I'll give Android Skype a try next.

My gf has iphone and we have tried several video chats but none seem to work well cross platform. Tango is good on my end but freezes on hers. Qik flips my image on her screen for some reason. Contacted dev and they couldn't fix it. Talk worked on wifi cross platform with vtok installed on iphone but still sucked. I have yet to find one that works as flawlessly as the ios system face time. Pisses me off to no end! Com'on moto! Pick it up!

Just down loaded new Skype version but camera doesn't work with PC's version on my wife's laptop. Can see her but my front camera just shows a black screen. Anybody have a suggestion?

Try an older version of Skype on the phone (skype_2_0_0_45-signed.apk worked for my Sensation 4G, when the official "current", at the time, version did not support it). Also, on the PC, make sure it has the most current version.

From what I understand, Verizon charges plan minutes for Skype calls (FUBAR)...is that just for Skype-to-PSTN calls, or Skype-to-Skype as well?

Unfortunately this solution is not working on UK version of device.
So... I finally got Skype video calls working on Motorola Razr XT910 !!!
Download this particular version of skype(patched):
https://rapidshare.com/files/915662828/Skype_2.1.0.46_v11.apk

Install it, sign in using your login and go to Advanced Settings in order to turn this on:
force enable video calling
force enable both camera
avoid setFPS
use valid preview surface
This is 100% working and tested by me solution for Motorola Razr (XT910).

Cheers from Ukraine :)
All thanks goes to 4PDA forum!!!
