Help Video camera bug drains battery

The video camera on my Desire has a quite annoying bug. First of all it does not work. When I press record it becomes unresponsive, and I have to use home button to get out of it. I then use app killer to kill all all apps. But after this my battery drains very fast(20%/hr). I have to restart my phone to get back to normal usage.

Anyone with similar experiences?
 
I have the HTC desire and have the same problem too. Haven't found any solution yet other than a factory reset which I am reluctant to try.

Any help out there?
