Android Question

Hi I'm a student & I'm fairly new at android development although I do have some basic knowledge of android studio. I need some help to make EITHER a video compressor app OR a file compressor app (like zips). I've been looking at source codes & they don't seem to make it easier to understand as well. Could someone kindly help me? Thanks!
