Help video playback not working

gvarsani

Lurker
hey guys,

i recorded videos in my s3. and the video playbacks were working fine till yesterday. now i cant play neither my recent nor old videos. i jus recorded a 5 second video but still the same. i took the sd card and put it back in as a solution but no luck with that.

whenever i try to play the video, all i get is the file path on the top of the black screen, ' content://media/external/video' and just a black screen. i shows the controls for play, forward and rewind, but nothing happens when i tap on them, there is no audio either.

Would be in your debt whoever can help me.

Regards
Gaurav Varsani

Why dont u try copying any one file to ure internal memory root and try playing it from there and see if it works. Also try MX Player and see if u are able to play videos.

@silentwitness: i copied it to the internal memory, and tried playing it on vlc. but while playing it shows green screen every now and then, like you find on some 2nd or 3rd grade movie recordings. also when i went into the file manager, i could play the movies from there. but not via the video player? any idea whts wrong?

Mx player has an option to select either hardware accellerator or software accelerator... None of my videos will play unless I switch to software accelerator. As well... YouTube app = green screen, though website plays fine. Video player will not work, camera videos will not work, certain games that include short videos, the vids are green screen.

I have...
Uninstalled apps / updates, restarted phone, then tried app again. Not resolved
Reinstalled apps / updates, restarted phone. Not resolved
Hard reset. Not resolved
uninstalled flashplayer updates. not resolved
installed flashplayer 10.x. for android. not resolved
dev' options > force gpu rendering for apps. not resolved.

pretty sure I tried a couple other things, obviously didn't work. I've been looking into this problem for a couple days now, no solid answers on any forums as of yet. even tech support from service provider is stumped by this.

one tech is certain its a flashplayer issue, though as I stated above, I've trouble shot that too.

Is there anything I may have missed? I'm a truck driver not a tech support guru, but I do know some things...

If you have installed real player, un install it. Then remove sd card and re-insert. Restart the mobile. Now playback the video through gallery as usual. Hope this works!
