Video Problems

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a Sony Xperia Z1 which I stream to my chromecast. My problem is, I can stream movies ok from the likes of Showbox but when I got to cast a video I have personally recorded the playback quality is poor and is constantly starts stops. Anty ideas?

I guess it is dependent on the wireless setup in your home, i.e. proximity between chromecast adapter and WiFi access point (router), which will determine signal strength. In addition, and probably more importantly, check the bitrate of your recordings. If you record at the highest bitrate, e.g. 1080p (Full HD) then I believe chromecast will struggle to reproduce the video smoothly. Try a 720p recording and hopefully this should be much better.

Mind, I am not an expert on media and chromecast, but this is what I have been reading, somewhere. Give it a try for what its worth; does not break anything.

For local video, i.e. on the device I use Google+ built-in Photo app, which has chromecast capabilities for virtually all media types. In addition I use Solid Explorer with chromecast plug-in to stream from my NAS - also handles most used media formats, however, this is a paid app, but the only one I found to do that efficiently.

I was actually asking the OP, sorry.

However, I didn't know the Google+ Photo app had chromecast support, I thought it was just the web interface, so thank you! :)

Much easier than uploading videos of the little ones to youtube.
