Help Video streaming to TV?

I was wondering if it is possible to stream live video from apps like CNN or WatchESPN and export it to my TV (either wireless or using a cable)? Would I need some kind of additional device?
 
I was on YouTube with my Nexus 7 in the house and it offered me the option of playing the video on my tablet or my GoogleTV.

I didn't know it would do that.

Apparently it searches for GoogleTV devices on your network and offers to use that as the display.

My Nexus 10 hasn't even shipped yet, but I assume it will do the same thing.

Yes, that is one of the new features in then new YouTube applcation...works really nice too. I am trying to figure out how to rename the Google TVs in the option to send it to them. I have two Google TVs (one actual TV and one Google TV Box) and it comes up with two Google TV options to send it to and both are named Google TV. My wife gets pi$$ed when I send something to her TV unexpected.
